If Dr. Ron Paul is going to remain in the big leagues, he might want to develop a tougher skin. When he was an irrelevant third-party Libertarian candidate, no one cared enough to dig up his dirt; now poised to run as a Republican candidate in what is a wide-open field -- if we ignore Newt Gingrich, the mud-slinging is thicker than George W. Bush’s skull.
Making the media rounds lately, are some newsletters from the 80s and 90s in which someone, allegedly Paul, made extremely racially inflammatory comments, including referring to African-Americans as “animals.” Consistently refuting the claims, Paul says that he did not conduct oversight over written views that were going out under his name, and has continued to remind potential voters that his politics over the years have in no way reflected the views expressed in the controversial newsletters.
When CNN’s Gloria Borger asked Paul about the racist newsletters , he again denied knowledge of them, responding:
“Why don’t you go back and look at what I said yesterday on CNN and what I’ve said for 20 something years. 22 years ago? I didn’t write them, I disavow them, That’s it.”
After continued to hurl questions at him, even asking him about the reports that he made millions from the distribution of the newsletters in 1993, Paul held firm":
“I was still practicing medicine,” Paul responded. “That’s probably why I wasn’t a very good publisher, I had to make a living…. I’d like to see that money. I never read that stuff. I was probably aware of it ten years after it was written and it’s been going on 20 years that people have pestered me about this and CNN does it every single time. So when are you going to wear yourself out?”
We have to give Borger an ‘E’ for effort though, because she would not let the man off the hook; but then Paul decided that he had had enough.
He simply took off his microphone and walked away.
When Borger talked to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, master of the “Dougie” and beat-boxing” after taking lessons from Hip-Hop legend Doug E. Fresh, she basically said that Paul would have to get over himself:
“I did have to ask them. He clearly thinks its irrelevant.” Borger explained to Blitzer. “He thinks it’s been asked and answered…It’s clearly a question he’d rather not be asked.”

This reminds me of the blind man who Jesus healed. When he went around showing he had renewed sight, the Pharisees questioned him endlessly whether or not it was because of Jesus. Finally, he got fed up and said if I tell you another time, then will you believe me?
Same case with Paul. If he said he had nothing to do with it and was not involved with the newsletter over a period of years, to pester him further about it would basically be calling him a liar.
As someone who has listened to his stances on race relations, and having looked at the quotes, they don't sound anything like him at all.

What I like about your article is I don't know what your opinion is on Ron Paul and the newsletters. That's how journalism should be. Present both sides, let the audience decide.
My opinion is the newsletters have some unquestionably racist comments, but I take Ron Paul at his word that he didn't write them nor does he believe these comments.
Listening to Ron Paul for years he is always preaching tolerance, neutrality on foreign policy (e.g. in Israel and Palestine, and equally valuing American and Iraqi, Pakistani, Afghanistan civilians that have died). He stands against Muslim and Gay bashing in debates with his own party when it is not politically popular, and didn't participate in that Obama is a Kenyan racist campaign.
Believe what you want to believe. The questions have been asked and answered.
All the comments on BLACK BLOGS taking Ron Paul at his word and condemning the media for asking these legitimate questions are coming from WHITES. Paul can make millions spewing racial hate against blacks and their attitude is, let it go. That in it self speaks volumes about Ron Paul supporters. Many of which are neo Nazis and white supremest.
Fridge; finding your analogy credible is beyond reason. No public figure ,much less an elected member of congress, with a staff. Can reasonably exopect a logically thinking person to believe Pauls response. Kinda like ' couldnt keep my hands off womens skirts'

Jamaal is dead on. How many times do you have to answer the same question, in a single interview, when you've already answered the same question the day before, multiple times as well, from the interviewer's peers (CNN). He didn't storm off, he got tired of wasting his time and getting badgered. Nobody can find ANY proof that Ron Paul is or ever was a racist. Being racist goes against everything he stands for, and it is commonly known that Rockwell wrote for the Paul papers with 6-7 sub-writers. This is

What an idiot... like she was performing some critical duty to seek the truth. He DID answer them... MULTIPLE TIMES. Borger just didn't like his answer and wanted to badger him until he gave her something to keep her career alive.
Paul IS going to win Iowa. This is the absolute worst thing the media and the rank-and-file Dems and Repubs can find on him. Intelligent black men and women should be ashamed if they actually believe this fear-mongering propaganda. You want a President that sees you as nothing more than a shade of black in a stereotypical group? Then vote Obama or any of the other Republican candidates. You want a President that will truly look past the color of our skin and value us as an individual... then vote Ron Paul.
