There has been some speculation that some slaves - who worked till as late as the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s - are still alive today. A Black man named, Cain Wall - who as of 2006, was 108 yrs. old - claims to have been enslaved in Mississippi by a family who never alerted him of his 'freed-status,' even after the official abolition. He continued to work effortlessly, and consistently suffered the horrendous maltreatment that was normative in such households. Many others who claim to have endured the hardship of American Enslavement are not keeping quiet. They, along with Mr. Wall, are suing for reparations, and speaking out about the atrocious conditions they were subjected to in the fields of their white masters and mistresses:
