Princeton University Professor Cornel West has been arrested again. The outspoken scholar and activist found himself in police custody at a protest of the NYPD’s “stop and frisk” policy.
The issue is gaining momentum because New York’s police commissioner Ray Kelly has been accused of using the tactic as an excuse to harass innocent citizens. State Senator Eric Adams had a meeting with Kelly and said this:
There's one quote Commissioner Kelly told me that I'll never forget. He stated, the reason we use stop-and-frisk and target the group that we do is because we want all people who fit that group to feel that any time they leave their house they can be searched by the police. This will prevent them from carrying weapons.
Professor West says that the reason he got arrested was "to let our young people know we love them.” There is no report of whether or not Professor West spent time in jail. He and 30 others were arrested for not complying with orders to not block the entrance to the Harlem precinct.

Sounds like the NYPD is backsliding into racial profiling, a practice that I believe is unconstitutional.
I would like to join in with Professoe Cornel West for this worthy cause. Crime is all over and exist with all races and nationalities. Who do they think they are ??? May God be with us as we continue to our fight for equality in this sinful, pagans world!
Cornel West has an ego problem, or so it seems. He wants to detract from the Occupy Wall Street protestors. Like most black leaders
he will not grasp the "leaderless" concept of the OWS group which focuses on the ISSUES, not an individual's charisma or credentials. So sad.

Actually Moorehead, it seems as though Cornel West is fighting a fight that most seem unaware is a problem. Wall Street issues do not affect a vast majority of black people. So thank you Cornel West for whatever your agenda was. You are bringing problems of this country to the forefront!

Was one of the first to embrace and attend the OWS group. He already was doing a poverty tour. Get real. As if there can't be more than one cause or more than one group speaking for the millions whose voices they feel has been silenced. I applaud what he did and rather than the focusing on the messenger(who in this case is trying to give light to the message) focus on the practice trying to be illuminated.
Maybe the police are targeting young African American men because that particular demographic commits a disproportionate amount of crime in that city, and every other city in America for that matter. Their crimes also tend to be the most violent in nature.
What disturbs me the most is that these crimes seemingly go unreported by the main stream media. I have personally only found one site on the internet that reports these crimes FACTUALLY as they happen. You can visit that site at:

I do not see this protest as an interference with wall street at all! In fact, some one has to do more than bury black men in the grave because they are shot in the back; someone has to bring attention to a long unabated issue surrounding the difference between police doing their jobs and engaging in racial profiling.
Really, RedsPatriot? Really??? Because the last time I checked African-Americans only take up less than 12% of the us population. So you mean to tell me that less than 12% of the population is terrorizing the whole nation? Get your facts straight before you make such comments. I suppose you have "proof" that blacks are the majority of the US population who benefit from the welfare system too, huh? 12%. If this predominantly white run country is allowing only 12% of the population run them scared AND break their pockets through the welfare system, they really are dumber than they look. LOL.
