Some former and current employees of Comcast Corp are suing the company, alleging that the company discriminated against African Americans. The group claims that the company gave black customers cable boxes that were infested with bugs, while giving the good ones to their white customers.
The suit was filed in federal court in Chicago. The group claims that they found cable boxes that were infested with bugs and cockroaches crawling into and out of the equipment. When confronted about the disparity, they were told that customers in the predominantly black South Side of Chicago "are more likely to steal equipment or not pay their bills."
The group also claims that the company did not give them the necessary equipment to install cable boxes and were also denied new uniforms that were given to employees on the North Side of the city. They are demanding back pay and punitive damages.
