Marine Asks First Lady To Corps Ball And She Says Yes…If Her Husband Agrees

Your Black Politics reports:

While passing out gifts for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots, Lance Cpl. Aaron Leeks, 20, soldiered up and asked the First Lady of the United States to accompany to the Marine Corps Ball. Meeks said that, besides being gorgeous, he admires the work that Mrs. Obama does with the military.  He spotted Michelle leaning over a toy bin sorting through hundreds of toys and quickly made his move.

When asked about the FLOTUS’s response, Meeks revealed:

"She said she'd love to go,” said Meeks.  “Actually, she said I'd need to speak to her husband, too, but she said she'd love to."

Meeks, who will deployed to Afghanistan in January, plans to return next year to attend the Ball.

When asked by reporters at the White House had President Barack Obama given his wife permission to attend the Marine Corps Ball, Press Secretary Jay Carney said that he wasn’t even sure if the president was aware of the invitation.

Let Michelle go have some fun Barack!

How sweet, but I don't know if it is an approriate request.

I'm sure President Obama is quite secure in his relationship with his wife. He should say yes and I believe he will.

Someone needs to check his sanity. Why would anyone ask out a married woman, let alone the first lady of the United States?

Great Gesture!

I hope that she and our fabulous POTUS will decide that she should go. She'll have a ball and it will make some for good press.

It don't matter wheather he secure or not there is something call respect for the president and for the first lady it was not being thoughtful but to be notice as first lady and a strong supporters of the military she was put on the spot so I think she answered properly now you can look for someone to ask the president next.

If I was Barak, I'd tell her yes, if I can go with a date as well. Then, I'd call that jarhead and give him a quick etiquette lesson.

Semper Fidelis! What a ballsy Marine! Great for him! She's gorgeous and classy, I wish she'd go to The Marine Corps Ball with me!

Cute, but totally inappropriate and definitely lacking in etiquette and decorum. Fortunately Mrs. Obama being a cultured lady responded in the only manner she could. Any other response and the part of the First Lady would have made for political hay for salivating talk show host and right-wing pundits. This Marine's chain-of-command should persausively encourage him to retrack the invitation so as not to cause the First Family any more undue embarrassment.

Are you all serious? Embarrassment? She works with the military and their families often. It would be great PR for her to go to the ball with the soldier. I'm sure he knows his place in life. It's not like he asked her on a real date to the movies or to dinner! I doubt President Obama is worried about this young man being an issue in his and his wife's marriage.

FLOUS WHY can`t you folks resepct
the Office and get your hard heads out of the CLUB or are you just "MENTRALLY DEFICIENT"

Highly disrespectful. This marine either has no home training or is a total idiot. Such is the mentality of some of our unthinking black men. They must always disgrace and embarrass the rest of us. Where is the logic and decency in asking a married woman to a ball? Not just a married woman, but the first lady for that matter. The first lady should have told him to get lost and find his level.
She is married, so the thought should never have entered his ignorant head. What a blundering idiot!!!

I think that it was an innocent request, many high profile married people are accompanied to social events by someone other than their spouses.

I do however, think that the first lady was unintentionally put on the spot.

I think we need to look at the those people who have been invited to the Marine Corps ball and graciously accepted.

We have forgotten that this is a 20 year old Marine who thought it was okay to ask the First Lady to attend the Marin Corps ball nothing more.

If the President does not agree to
allow the First Lady, I for one wouldn't blame him. The President and First Lady would no doubt face a lot of negative comments from idiots like those featured hear.

That's sweet but I don't know if it's appropriate. However, Mrs. Obama will have several armed men escorting her to make sure she is okay.

PLEASE-----grow up-------people!!!
Why are we so quick to take the MOST innocent of things and turn them into something ugly and negative. I see this as both a gesture of kindness and also a good PR opportunity. It's good to see our leaders interact with the everyday people. Mrs.Obama is a lady and a real woman. She i also a happily married mother. Get your minds out of the gutter. NObody even talks about bushjr., and he was evil supreme. Let us focus on what is truly important and stopconcernig ourselves with trivial pursuits.
